KORU8 - International contemporary jewellery triennial.

KORU8 will take place from the 4th to the 8th June in 2024. The main purpose of the event is to present widely international contemporary jewellery and bring together the artists, lecturers, researchers and people with interest in contemporary jewellery to take part in exhibition, seminar and workshops!

The word KORU means jewellery in Finnish.

The KORU event was established in 2003 in Lappeenranta, Finland. The event is a triennial and as such, it is the most long-standing contemporary jewellery event in Finland. KORU1 was held in 2003, KORU8 will be held in 2024.

The events numbered 1-4 were organized by Saimaa University of Applied Sciences together with Art museums in Lappeenranta and Imatra. Also, The South East Art Council was involved. In 2015 The Finnish Art Jewellery Association took over the event and has been the organizer since KORU5.

The most visual part of the event is the international jewellery exhibition. Over the years KORU exhibitions have been shown in South Karelia Museum, Lappeenranta Art Museum, Imatra Art Museum, Vaasa City Art Gallery, Kuopio Art Museum, Artspace Laikku in Tampere and Suvilahti in Helsinki.

In every past event there has also been a seminar along with workshops which both bring people together to discuss and work within the topics of contemporary jewelry.
